 The book starts with a preface stating that Google was trying to find and create new policies and regulations for Europe. "How we come to understand ourselves and our place in the world." (P.11). In the introduction the book talks about how a digital device (computers, phones) shapes our lives and gives limited knowledge in order to make us believe in specific forms of ideas. Algorithm is more than a regular search that we as users of digital devices search through  the google search bar. The meaning behind it explains the long digital process a computer would run in order to match the similar information we provided it with. Another thing that amazed me after reading (We Are Data ) is the categories google creates when publishing the information. For example, determining the gender of the user is a new update that google added before showing any information depending on the gender of the previous search. Media and social networking are both sources that provide us with many method when communicating with each other virtually no matter how far the distance is and the location of that person or group of people we are communicating with. For my personal use and entertainment I use regular text messages,  TikTok, snapchat, and Tinder. Emails are used at work and school between my coworkers and myself where I tend to be professional with my responses and respond immediately. I use other apps such as Instagram for shopping, following famous people, and create my own page where I post stories and posts to present a short introduction of my self for my new followers. I can definitely say that I use social networking everyday and it is considered as an addictive habit and need. I believe that social media helped a lot in developing new positive habits such as learning new healthy cooking recipes and smoothies, trying to wake earlier in the morning to maintain a healthy lifestyle and body.           Social Media is the new life director for my generation. If it is led the right way then it can be on my side and if it is led the wrong way then it can be against me. The things that I do on social media are keeping my social life. Simply by contacting my friends and family in the States and out of the States. Making phone calls, texting, posting on Facebook, commenting on others posts, and saving good memories through photos. I would have great conversations with others about politics, health issues, pollution, and social injustice cases; therefore I do think before I post since I believe that everything online will last in people's memories.
